How often should I have my brakes checked?
At every service, or sooner if you notice noise, vibration or a change in how the pedal feels. Pad wear depends on the car and how you drive, so there is no fixed kilometre figure.
Do I need new discs every time I replace the pads?
Not always. If the discs are above the manufacturer's minimum thickness and not warped or badly scored, they can often be machined or reused. We measure them and tell you which applies before quoting.
Is it safe to drive with the brake warning light on?
It depends on the cause. It can mean low brake fluid, worn pads or the handbrake still on. If the pedal feels soft or the car doesn't stop as it should, stop driving and call us on 03 9548 9380.
